FLYING TRAINING IN USA
Poetic Pilot Academy have partnered with FTO which are FEDERAL AVIATION AUTHORITY (FAA) approved and have approved training syllabus. All training is documented and maintained to FAA standards.
Flight Training Organisations in USA also trains you in accordance with DGCA requirements. Upon successful completion students will earn FAA – CPL IR/ME and required DGCA flight hours, which will allow you to convert your licenses and ratings upon return to India.
As an Indian CPL holder, you become eligible to apply for vacancies in commercial airlines, charters in India and finally fulfil your dream to become an Airline Pilot.
WHY USA?
The USA is the best country for flight training due to its well-established aviation infrastructure, numerous FAA-approved flight schools, and access to advanced training technology. With a high volume of airports, lenient airspace restrictions, and favourable weather conditions, students get extensive flying experience in a real-world environment. Training is faster due to streamlined certification processes. Additionally, U.S. pilot licenses are globally recognized.
ELIGIBILITY
Before starting Flight training in USA, Students are recommended to have these requirements:
- Age:Be at least 16 years old
- Education:Have passed 10+2 standard or equivalent with Physics and Maths. Medical, Commerce, arts students can give Physics or Maths through NIOS.
- Medical Fitness Requirement:Minimum DGCA Class I Medical CA35
- English Language Proficiency:Both verbal and written
- Pass the DGCA CPL theory exams 1 Air Navigation 2 Meteorology 3 Air Regulations 4 RTR
- Apply For Student Visa – M1 after getting enrolled in an FTO

ARRIVAL & TRAINING IN USA
Upon arrival in USA, students are warmly received at the airport by the flight school’s designated representatives and transported to their accommodation. Comfortable housing is arranged close to the training facility, and daily transportation is provided to and from the flight school, ensuring convenience and safety. This seamless travel arrangement allows students to focus on their training without worrying about commuting, making their learning experience hassle-free and efficient
Part 61 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) provides a flexible and self-paced approach to obtaining a Commercial Pilot License (CPL).
Complete 250 hours of flight hours including DGCA requirement –
- 100 hours pilot in command (PIC),
- 50 hours solo 100 NM cross country,
- 15 hours of night
- 20 hours instrument flight.
- 15 hours of Multi Engine
- 10 hours of complex or TAA (Technically Advanced Aircraft) time
The course covers general flying, aircraft testing, and skill test.
To obtain a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) in the USA), students must pass the FAA Private & Commercial Pilot Airplane Knowledge Tests before their check rides.
FAA PPL & CPL Knowledge Tests (CAX) Details:
- Total Questions: 100 multiple-choice questions
- Passing Score: 70% or higher
Time Limit: 3 hours
Duration: Flight training takes an average of 9-10 months, depending on individual student’s progress, availability, and weather conditions.
Fleet in USA
250 hours will be flown on single engine, 15 hours on Multi engine and 20 hours of Simulator Training.
Single Engine – Cessna-152,172. Diamond DA-40. Piper Archer III, Cherokee PA28.
Multi Engine – Piper Seneca PA34, PA30. Diamond DA42.
CONVERSION TO INDIAN CPL
After completion, Students come back to INDIA for mandatory conversion flying/checks. Approx 9 hours of flying completed over the course of 2 weeks. DGCA will issue INDIAN COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE with Multi Rating – CPL IR/ME once various documents are submitted including –
- FAA CPL
- Conversion flying documents
- DGCA exam results
- Valid Indian Class 1 medical assessment
